Aging in Stride Author Speaks at Health Expo 2004
by Diane Kenny, Vice-President
Aging in Stride co-author Dr. Christine Himes was a featured speaker on September 28 at the Health Expo 2004 in Binghamton, New York, sponsored in part by Action for Older Persons. Focusing on the four "Building Blocks for Aging" presented in the book, Dr. Himes energized the group with stories of her success in encouraging all older adults, no matter their challenges, to keep moving. And Chris' journey evidenced her commitment to the message, as she followed the fall hurricanes up the eastern seaboard, not totally comfortable in the planes carrying her to the conference! "Our Health Expo was a wonderful success on so many levels," reports Executive Director Shelli Cordisco. "Chris is a terrific speaker and a beautiful person I am so delighted you sent me such an angel." The good feelings were mutual. Chris commented upon her return, "The folks in Binghamton are wonderful people and I had a whirlwind four hours with them, enjoying every minute." The positive energy of Aging in Stride so evident in its authors is an empowering message that's beginning to take hold as the book receives more coverage and acclaim.
