New Videos Explain Safety Committee
Dennis Kenny, President
Caresource's video team has just released its latest two-tape video training package, Representing All of Us The Role of the Safety Committee in Long Term Care and Assisted Living. The new package available on your choice of VHS or DVD includes two distinct programs. The first explains the key role the safety committee plays in promoting workplace safety and in giving everyone on staff a voice and a stake in getting it right where job safety is concerned. An important feature of Program One is that it also puts a much-needed spotlight on practical ways staff can support and be part of the work of the safety committee. The tape uses the discussion of the safety committee's role as an opportunity to review the basics of on-the-job safety for staff viewers during in-service education or new employee orientation. Program Two is for a smaller audience consisting of safety committee members themselves, together with administrators and middle managers. This program spells out the benefits of having an active, high-profile safety committee. It goes on to discuss the main characteristics successful safety committees have in common. Representing All of Us comes with a 16-page Presenter's Guide that includes: - a backgrounder with information on the subject
- planning and implementation checklist
- examples of safety committee documentation (mission statement, sample agenda, minutes, etc.)
- an inservice outline
- post-viewing discussion questions
- audience activity sheet
- employee handout
