
NCOA/Healthy Aging Briefing: Fall Prevention

Fall Prevention: New Initiatives and Programs Caresource invites you to participate in the NCOA/Caresource Healthy Aging Briefing on January 26, 2006, from 1:30 - 2:15 p.m. Eastern Time. Bonita (Lynn) Beattie, co-director of the NCOA's Falls Free initiative, will speak on Fall Prevention: New Initiatives and Programs. What Will You Learn? - Details on NCOA's Call to Action on Fall Prevention and how to affect change at the local level
- The rationale for adopting multifactorial, collaborative fall prevention strategies
- Two evidence-based fall prevention programs for use in community-based organizations
- Resources that can assist local efforts to reduce falls
Why Should I Attend? Attendees will be provided with a brief overview of the epidemiology of falls and fall-related injuries among older adults, as well as the purpose of the National Action Plan to Prevent Falls and the progress made in the implementation of the strategies by the Falls Free coalition member organizations. Current initiatives, relevant research, and valuable resources to help address fall prevention in local communities will also be provided.
And all-first time briefing session participants will receive a FREE copy of the Aging in Stride guide to healthy aging and eldercare (one per registrant). This briefing is a webinar, in which participants call in to listen to the speaker and watch the presentation on the Internet. The visual presentation includes PowerPoint slides or other support material, but is not streaming video, and therefore does not require the use of a high speed Internet connection.
