E-Greetings -- Holiday Wishes and More!
E-greetings have grown exponentially in popularity over the last few years. At first, they were an easy way for companies to extend holiday wishes to their entire network – much simpler than traditional cards and mailings. E-greetings also offered the company a financial incentive, as email is much more cost-effective than mail. As Americans become more concerned about the environment, more and more consumers will appreciate your use of e-greetings over traditional holiday cards (or email over mail in general) as much as you! E-greetings reduce paper use and mail delivery, thereby reducing the amount of carbon emissions generated by companies over the holidays, which supports the growing "green movement."
E-greetings can be as simple or creative as you like. Last year, we combined the announcement of our name change with our holiday greeting. E-Greeting Combines Holiday Wishes and Name Change Announcement
With plans to launch a name change at the first of the year, officials with IlluminAge Communication Partners, formerly Caresource (Seattle, WA), came up with a creative message to inform constituents of the change while offering holiday greetings. “We have been rolling out the name change slowly in different ways during the past four to six months, with the intention of making the transition official at the first of the year,” says Connie Parsons, marketing director. “Since we always send out a holiday greeting and it is distributed so close to the new year, we went back and forth on which name to use.”
From Concept to Distribution
During concept development it became clear that the greeting should be from Caresource but that the greeting would serve as another opportunity to introduce the new name — IlluminAge — to its clients. The in-house design team came up with the idea to send an e-greeting of a snow globe with an image of the Seattle skyline. The e-greeting simply states “Happy Holidays! From your friends at Caresource!” Attached to the base is a sticky note that reads, “Look for our name change on January 1, 2008! IlluminAge Communication Partners.” At the top of the e-greeting is an icon that allows viewers to shake the globe. As this was one of the final notices of our name change, it was a nice finishing touch,” says Parsons.
E-Greeting’s Success
Parsons says this campaign achieved a 68 percent click-through rate compared to most of their campaigns at 30 percent or greater. “This is a good indicator of people’s enjoyment of experiencing something a little different.” Source: Connie Parsons, Marketing Director, IlluminAge Communication Partners, Seattle, WA.
