Healthy Aging Briefing Series, May 21

The Financial Meltdown:
Helping Your Organization Weather the Storm

Please join us Thursday, May 21, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time for the next in our HABS webinar series. Our presenter will be James P. Firman, Ed.D., president and CEO of our co-sponsor, the National Council on Aging.

This is the second in our two-part webinar series on the financial crisis and strategies for the aging services network in responding. In April, Harry R. Moody, Ph.D., Director of Academic Affairs for AARP, discussed how aging service professionals and their programs and organizations can help seniors understand and cope with a new and challenging set of economic realities. (If you missed the April webinar, don’t forget that it is available as a program archive at www.ncoa.org/briefings.)

On May 21, Dr. Firman will pick up where Dr. Moody left off. Our focus this session will be on the financial health and survivability of aging service organizations, themselves. What strategies are available to help them weather the financial storm? Are there opportunities as well as threats in the current situation? How can we position our programs to survive current fundraising and budgetary stresses and emerge stronger than ever as the national economy recovers?

About Our Presenter
Dr. Firman has been a leader and innovator in the field of aging and aging services for over a quarter century. An important focus throughout his career has been the organizational and leadership characteristics it takes for aging services organizations to thrive in their communities.
