November 20 Webinar: Tapping the Boomer Reservoir

Boomers represent an enormous potential resource pool for community engagement, including volunteer support for programs serving older adults and their families and caregivers. This month’s NCOA/IlluminAge Healthy Aging Briefing Series (HABS) will explore the challenge of fostering and leveraging expanded civic engagement on the part of Boomers. Our presenter will be Beth Steinhorn. The webinar is set for Thursday, November 20, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

Ms. Steinhorn is a nonprofit executive and consultant and an associate of JFFixler & Associates. She has over two decades’ experience working with nonprofit organizations and served as editor for the new book Boomer Volunteer Engagement – Collaborate Today, Thrive Tomorrow (AuthorHouse, 2008). Beth serves as a consultant on volunteer engagement, education and marketing, helping client organizations effectively engage volunteers in capacity-building collaborations, present clear and effective messages, and create a sustainable culture of volunteer engagement.

During our webinar on November 20, Beth will present strategies and best practices for:

  • Understanding Boomer demographics and their motivations in terms of civic engagement;
  • Structuring volunteer opportunities tailored to Boomers’ interests and life experiences;
  • Nurturing and sustaining your civic engagement initiatives over the long run.

Following Beth’s presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions, participate in discussion, and share some of your own ideas and experiences regarding civic engagement.
