The Easter Season
The Bible reveals that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds greeted him with waving palm branches, and covered his path with palm branches. This event is referred to as Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of a very Holy Week. During this time, Jesus and the disciples assembled together for the Last Supper, where they broke bread and drank wine. This foreshadows what was to come and to symbolize Jesus’ body and blood that would be laid down for the redemption of sins. The events of Passover instilled the tradition of communion, which is still practiced. When Good Friday arrived, Jesus was taken to the cross to be crucified for proclaiming himself as Lord and Savor and preaching the gospel. The Roman soldiers took away his life, but not for long. He rose from the dead Easter morning and revealed himself to thousands of people before ascending into heaven. Easter is a time to celebrate the renewal of life worth living.
