Resident Spotlight on Helen Coll

Newly arrived to Lorien Bel Air, Helen Coll was born on August 10, 1918. She grew up in East Baltimore City with two brothers and three sisters. When she was five, Helen's father was tragically killed at Bethlehem Steel in a work accident, leaving Helen's mother to support the family alone. As a result, Helen's schooling halted after she attended St. Cassimir's grade school, so she could help support her family.

Ms. Coll had her beautician's license and worked as a beautician until she met and married Francis at the age of 21. Together they had two sons and one daughter. Today Helen has ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren! Family is very important to Helen; she is happy to tell anyone about her family's accomplishments and how she loves spending time with them.
