Staff Spotlight on Laura Bustamante, Floor Technician
Laura Bustamante was born on March 21, 1962, and raised in Durango, Mexico, along with her five brothers and three sisters. She enjoyed having such a large family, especially at Christmas! When she was little, Laura wanted to have her sister Elizabeth's name. She thought that her name was plain. (She has since changed her mind). All throughout her schooling, Laura's passion was volleyball, which she played and excelled at for eight years. Laura continued her education by attending Mexico City College and majoring in accounting. Laura married her husband, Juan, and in 1978 he came to California to start a better life for Laura and their first son. A couple of years later, Juan came back for Laura and they all moved to California. Ms. Bustamante and her family stayed in California for three years and then moved to Virginia. First, Laura was made the Assistant, then Director of Environmental Services for a nursing home. Laura ended up having three boys and two girls, and in 2003 moved from Virginia to Maryland. Exercising, reading, and playing with her grandkids are among Laura's hobbies. She was also named Employee of the Month for October 2008. When asked what words she lives by, Laura simply replied, "I always like to help others."
