Public Comment Period Now Open for 2010 "Facility Guidelines" Draft
Facility Guidelines Institute
The Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) has announced the opening of the public comment period for the DRAFT 2010 Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities manuscript. FGI is a not-for-profit corporation founded to provide leadership and continuity to the process of developing and publishing the Guidelines document. More than 40 states use the Guidelines to regulate health care facility construction and renovation, and the document is referenced by the Joint Commission and the federal government (HUD, the Public Health Service, and the Indian Health Service). The Guidelines document is updated every four years to keep pace with changes in the delivery of health care. The current revision cycle began in April 2007, with the first meeting of the 2010 Health Guidelines Revision Committee (HGRC). Subsequently, the HGRC reviewed proposals to change the language in the 2006 edition of the Guidelines, resulting in the draft 2010 edition manuscript now available for public review. FGI encourages the health care industry (clinicians, designers, and facility managers and administrators), authorities having jurisdiction, and other interested members of the public to review the draft and comment by the December 15, 2008 deadline.
