Become a Big Brother or Big Sister! Big Sister Leslee Miller and Little Sister Lupita attend a special event together. Leslie and Lupita have been matched for over three years and see each other at least twice a month. They enjoy talking, swimming, going to plays and movies together. The City of Seattle is seeking applications for the 2009 Bill Wright Technology Matching Fund (TMF). The fund supports projects that reach technology-underserved communities, including older adults and people with disabilities, thereby increasing "digital inclusion." To learn more about the grant process, attend the TMF Grant Information Session. Program staff and past recipients will be available to answer questions about the grant program. A grassroots community is now forming in NE Seattle that will be dedicated to insuring that as we grow older, we can continue to live in our own home, in the neighborhood we love. It's called the Village Concept and is an innovative, new approach to aging in place that is inspiring persons 50 plus to organize, incorporate, and take charge. These "virtual villages" build community and help reduce social isolation and are modeled after Beacon Hill Village in Boston. Sound Steps Spring Training Kick Off

Join the Sound Steps team as we train for three levels of walking challenge. Choose from the St. Patty's Day 5K on March 15, Lake Union Loop 10K on April 25, or the Rock-N-Roll Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on June 27, or walk all three! Senior Citizens' Lobby Day

The annual Senior Lobby day program will include Governor Christine Gregoire, Insurance Commissioner Representatives and Rob McKenna, Attorney General. Following lunch, attendees can meet with their legislator. Generation BIG Information Session

You can make BIG difference in the life of a child. Becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister is a fun and easy way to benefit the West Seattle Community in a BIG way. All you have to do is spend time having fun with a local child! Attend one of two information sessions on February 18 or February 24 to learn more. Volunteers will be paired with a Little Brother or Sister at Highland Park Elementary School where they will talk, have fun, and work on academics together.
