Gardening Resources

The King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks website can give you more information about participating in the Master Gardener Volunteer Program.

To learn more about Seattle's 53 P-Patch community gardens, or if you would like to be added to the P-Patch Garden Wait List, go to the City of Seattle website's P-Patch information page.

For more about the therapeutic uses of gardening, see the website of the American Horticultural Therapy Association. The American Society of Landscaper Architects also offers an online brochure on "Therapeutic Garden Design."

Medication Safety

Medline Plus, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, is a source of information on thousands of prescription and over-the-counter medications.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration website contains information and updates for consumers about medications and medication safety.

The National Institute on Aging's Age Pages features a four page brochure, "Medicines: Use Them Safely"

If you take herbal products, check out the University of Texas-El Paso's Herbal Safety website, which includes fact sheets about many common herbal products. Find out whether the herbal products you take have been proven to be effective and if there are hidden dangers you should know about.
