Food Pyramid Reconstructed Have you heard about the brand new "food pyramid" that was recently released by the USDA (at right)? It looks quite different from the traditional model. To help explain the updated nutritional recommendations, the USDA has unveiled a new informational website at www.mypyramid.gov. The site includes a full discussion of the new guidelines, and other resources to help you learn about the food groups and see how much physical activity you should be getting. Senior Fitness For a thorough overview of exercise for older adults, check out the free online publication, Exercise: A Guide from the National Institute on Aging. The guide offers in-depth but easy-to-read coverage of the basics of safe and effective exercise, special fitness concerns of older adults, and how to stay motivated. Does Fido Need a Workout, Too? Many Seattle/King County residents count on their canine friends to help provide motivation for getting out and about.
