Let Your Voice Be Heard!
Karen Winston, ADS Planner
We want to hear from you as we create the 2008–2011 Area Plan on Aging for King County! During 2007, Aging and Disability Services (ADS) will develop a plan to provide services for older people and adults with disabilities over the next four years. The plan, known as the Area Plan on Aging for King County, serves as the framework for our work as an Area Agency on Aging and establishes our major goals and objectives for the next four years. To kick off the Area Plan process, ADS will conduct a community survey, several focus groups, and four Focus on the Future Forums. Anyone may participate in the survey; however, we especially encourage residents who are age 60 and older or disabled to respond. Ideas from seniors, their families and professionals are very important in the planning process. We want to hear from you! Click here to complete the community survey. (See below for information on obtaining the survey in another format.) Four Focus on the Future Forums will be held throughout King County from February through April. Focus groups designed primarily for aging professionals will be held simultaneously. ADS will make a draft Area Plan available for public review and comment at public hearings scheduled during July and August 2007. The mission of Aging and Disability Services is to develop a community that promotes quality of life, independence and choice for older people and adults with disabilities in King County. Contact Karen Winston, Area Plan Coordinator (karen.winston@seattle.gov) for more information, or to receive a hard copy of the community survey.
