Geriatric mental health service workers We're very excited to present our keynote speaker for this year, Dr. Donna Benton, Executive Director of the Caregiver Resource Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Benton will share tips on making the caregiving experience a positive one for everyone involved, the use of humor, and the importance of respite. Her wealth of experience comes from years of training on caregiving topics, and her own personal experience as a family caregiver. This conference offers a broad range of topics, allowing caregivers to choose the information they need most. Ideas are practical, and caregivers can immediately put them to use in their own home or work situation. In addition, over 40 exhibitors will provide resource information about products and services that are available to assist caregivers in Washington state. Other important topics for caregivers will be: - Managing stress
- Back injury prevention
- Coping with the difficult emotions of caregiving
- Legal and financial planning
- Family conflict and cooperation
- Challenging behaviors in adults with developmental disabilities
- Effective communication skills with dementia behaviors
