African American Caregiver Forum Saturday, October 25, 2008 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Northwest African American Museum in Seattle The Alzheimer's Association will host the 3rd Annual African American Caregiver Forum: Affirming the Legacy of Love. The forum will address the unique concerns of African American individuals and families caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or a related memory loss disorder. The forum, luncheon, respite care and a tour of the Northwest African American Museum are provided free to forum attendees. Space is limited and pre-registration is required for this event. Economic Stimulus Reminder – October 15 Deadline Many older adults may not be aware that they are eligible to receive at least $300 as part of the government’s Economic Stimulus package. The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 15, 2008. You can apply for the payment by simply filing a 2007 tax return, and both AARP and the IRS have on-line tools to help make this process easier. LGBT Caregiver Support Groups Starts October 14, 2008 2nd Tuesday of each month 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 pm Elderhealth Northwest 6555 Ravenna Ave NE Seattle, WA 98115 LGBT support groups provide a consistent and caring place for caregivers to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a unique journey of providing care to a person with memory loss. Meetings are free and open to all LGBT care partners, family members and friends of individuals with memory loss. Support groups are led by trained volunteers who receive ongoing technical support and training from the Chapter.
