Welcome to the October 2009 Seniors Digest!
After their meeting last month, ADS Advisory Council members took a ride on Sound Transit's new light rail system to see for themselves how accessible the system is for older adults and people with disabilities. The Advisory Council is accepting applications for new members to fill seats soon to be vacated by long time members.
Senior Lobby Fall Conference
On October 30, I will be joining our Advisory Council members at the annual Senior Lobby Fall Conference. Speakers include Governor Gregoire and a number of state senators, representatives, and public officials. This event is a great way to prepare for another critical legislative session for state-funded programs for older adults. Visit the Washington State Senior Citizens' Lobby website to register for and learn more about this event.
Would you like to join us?
Our Advisory Council is about to experience a wave of vacancies, as the terms of many of our long time members (such as Thelma Pegues, at right in the lower photo) will expire this year. We are seeking people who are interested in issues and services affecting older adults and people with disabilities.
If you are interested in joining the council, contact Gigi Meinig at (206) 684-0652 or email@example.com, or visit the ADS Advisory Council's website for more information and to download an application form.
