Senior Housing Choices

The U.S. Administration on Aging website has a section on housing, including information and resources about independent living and remodeling.

AARP offers further information on making the decision about where to live, as well as help in selecting the right community. To help seniors who wish to stay in their own homes but are facing mobility limitations, the Home Design section features ideas for making the home more safe and accessible.

Lower income seniors may qualify for the Minor Home Repair program through Senior Services of Seattle/King County.

Advance Health Care Directives

The American Bar Association's Commission on Law and Aging website offers a free online "Consumer's Tool Kit for Health Care Advance Planning." The tool kit offers forms and checklists to help you not only devise advance directives, but also to help in your decision making process, and with communicating your wishes with family and physician.

The Medem Medical Library contains articles on advance health care planning, guidance for health care proxies, and end-of-life care decision-making.
