February is American Heart Month

The website of the American Heart Association is a good starting point for finding information about heart health, heart smart eating, living with heart disease, and heart healthy resources from around the Puget Sound area.

The National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute of the National Institutes of Health also has factsheets and resources promoting heart health.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Heart Health Online web pages are another good source of information about heart conditions, lifestyle issues and treatments.

February is also Black History Month. Celebrate with a feast! But first, check out the National Institutes of Healths 32-page cookbook, Heart Healthy Home Cooking, African-American Style, for delectable recipes that wont weigh you down.

National Consumer Protection Week
February 5 - 11

The U.S. Postal Service Consumer Advocate's office and the U.S. Postal Inspector are partnering this month to call attention to the epidemic of fraud, including scams targeting elderly consumers. Their website, www.consumer.gov/ncpw, offers information for consumers. Take "The Grand Scam Challenge," a fun interactive "game show," to see how savvy you are about rip-offs!
