"Just In Case"

The new emergency preparedness video Just In Case: Emergency Readiness for Older Adults and Caregivers, featuring members of the Seattle-King County Advisory Council on Aging & Disability Services, can be now be seen online on the Aging in Stride website. Here, in a scene from the video, Advisory Council Chair Don Moreland and former chair Timmie Faghin inspect their emergency evacuation kits.

Fall Protection

The Washington State Department of Health has recently released Stay Active & Independent for Life: An Information Guide for Adults 65 , a guide to provide information for older adults on how to stay active and independent for life, and how to prevent falls and fall-related injuries a major threat to independent living. 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control offers the Toolkit to Prevent Senior Falls, with brochures and factsheets.

Home Modifications

The National Resource Center on Supportive Housing and Home Modification features the consumer home safety websites www.HomeMods.org and www.stopfalls.org, with information about fall-proofing your home.

Staying Physically Active

The National Institute of Health (NIH) Senior Health website contains a wealth of information and resources for seniors who want to increase their physical activity level:
