Grandpa with ComputerGrandparents Raising Grandchildren

The U.S. government's www.childwelfare.gov website contains information and resources for grandparents who are raising grandchildren, including the Kinship Care/Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Resource Directory.

AARP's Grandparenting information section includes the newly updated document "Washington State Fact Sheet for Grandparents and Other Relatives Raising Children."   

The Washington State University Extension's Relatives as Parents Program includes services and resources, support groups and an online video course.

Alzheimer's and African Americans

The Alzheimer's Association offers information and resources for people with Alzheimer's and their families. The site includes a section on African Americans and Alzheimer's Disease.  

The Alzheimer's Association of Western & Central Washington website is a great source of local information, including more about the African American Caregiver Forum.

Walking: the Universal Exercise

The Partnership for a Walkable America offers the online brochure "Walking as a Way of Life," which explains the many benefits of this form of exercise.

Stepping Out for Mature Adults: Be Healthy, Walk Safely is a website from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that includes articles on pedestrian safety, incorporating walking into your everyday schedule, and staying motivated.
