Welcome to the July 2007 Seniors Digest!

True or false? Walking barefoot on cobblestones can improve your sense of balance, lower your blood pressure and reduce stress. True, according to King County Parks, who along with several community partners recently installed two professionally designed reflexology paths. Come kick off your shoes and try out these new therapeutic parks! See the next article in this issue to learn more about this ancient healing art. What else is going on this month? We invite you to attend a public hearing on the 2008-2011 Area Plan on Aging. And mark your calendar for Sweet Summer Night—A Get Together for Families Living with Memory Loss, which promises to be a meaningful event for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s and other memory problems. Houston Brown’s Cooking Corner features his recipe for Shrimp Tex-Mex Salad—a great summer get-together treat. The Home Safety Council offers tips for securing your home while you head out on your summer vacation. Don’t offer burglars an “invitation” to be in your house while you aren’t! This month’s Wordfind puzzle also has to do with travel safety. A little preparation can help ensure a safe, successful trip. For More Information….
