Welcome to the November 2007 Seniors Digest!
Don Moreland, Advisory Council Chair
In the September issue of Seniors Digest, we looked at the changing face of retirement…which for many seniors includes part-time or even full-time work. In this issue, Alana McIalwain of the Mayor's Office for Senior Citizens reminds us that older workers may encounter ageism and other barriers to employment. Find out about the Senior Citizens’ Age 55+ Employment Resource Center, where baby boomers and older adults can sharpen their jobseeker skills and find leads on full-time or part-time employment in the area. During November, we also celebrate Veterans Day, when we honor those who served in the armed forces. Vietnam era vet Richard Wilson (seen at right) was kind enough to share with us his experience of searching for a new career with the support of local veterans’ services. We are also pleased to premiere the first in a series of articles by Advisory Council member Dr. Jonathan Wanagat, who will be offering monthly information and updates on healthcare issues of interest to seniors and caregivers. We look forward to learning more from Dr. Wanagat, who is a physician and researcher at the SeniorCare Clinic at Harborview. Also in this issue... - Providence ElderPlace: a Nursing Home Alternative
- Top 10 Ways to Celebrate National Family Caregivers Month
- "Healthy Holiday Feasting" Wordfind
