Welcome to the January 2008 Seniors Digest!

Don Moreland and Michael MillerHappy New Year! This month I am hosting my final issue of Seniors Digest. It hardly feels like two years since I began my term as the Advisory Council Chair! It has been an honor to work with so many diverse, well-qualified and caring council members.

It is a pleasure to turn over leadership of this fine Council to new chair Michael Miller, who will increase our awareness of the needs for aging and disability services. Michael will continue the effort of our council to be good advocates for those in need.

In this issue, we invite you to join us for Senior Lobby Day on January 22, when Advisory Council members join the Eldercare Alliance to urge the legislature to focus on issues impacting seniors and people with disabilities.

And you may have seen Phil Borges’ stunning photographic work in the various books he has published over the years. Phil left a successful orthodontics practice to pursue his vocation for photography, specializing in portraits of indigenous people from around the world. Phil recently received the 2007 Purpose Prize for his work with Bridges, a foundation he began with the goal of linking school children around the world through photography. Be sure to click on the links in the next article to see more of his beautiful portraits.
