February is American Heart Month

This month, Americans are urged to focus on cardiac wellness. Heart disease is the leading cause of death and major disability in the United States. But you can reduce the risk of heart disease by taking steps to prevent and control factors that might put you at greater risk. High cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, obesity and kidney disease are all risk factors. But lifestyle choices such as exercise, a healthy diet, managing diabetes and smoking cessation can help promote heart health.
