SE4A was formed in 1973 as a regional advocacy association. Member states include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Each year SE4A conducts an annual training conference to address national, regional and local issues regarding the needs of older adults. The 2010 Conference held in Louisville, KY was the most well attended SE4A Conference in years, with over 1,000 attendees. The theme, "Champions of Aging: Fighting for the Future," was chosen to represent the challenges and solutions within the aging network. Sessions provided innovative ideas and information in the areas of administration and management, legal/advocacy issues, workforce issues, health and wellness, and information and benefits. Each of these speakers has lifelong ties to Kentucky. A special reception and private touring of the Muhammad Ali Center was held for the conference.
