National Senior Games Association and Humana Announce New Partnership

The National Senior Games Association (NSGA) and Humana have entered into a six-year partnership in which Humana will be the Presenting Sponsor of NSGA's premier event, the Summer National Senior Games - The Senior Olympics for the term of the agreement.

The biennial Summer National Senior Games - The Senior Olympics Presented by Humana is the largest multi-sport event in the world for men and women over the age of 50. The event attracted 10,400 athletes and over 20,000 additional guests to the 2005 games. The economic impact exceeded $30 million for the Host City of Pittsburgh. NSGA projects more than 12,000 athletes will participate in the 2007 Games in Louisville from June 22-July 8.

"We are thrilled to welcome Humana to the NSGA," said Dr. Bill Bankhead, president and chief executive officer of NSGA. "The Humana commitment to consumer health guidance is a critical component of healthy aging. That nationally recognized focus is a perfect match with NSGA's fitness programs. It is also important to note that the entire Humana team is committed to providing our constituents, their families and friends with an enhanced Senior Games experience."

"Humana has a history of service and commitment to seniors across this country, so our sponsorship of the Summer National Senior Games is consistent with our desire to encourage and foster healthy behavior in all Americans," said Michael B. McCallister, president and chief executive officer of Humana. "These games exemplify the benefits to older Americans in maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, and the thrill of participating in Olympic competition. We are proud to be supporting these games and are looking forward to seeing the participation of many athletes as they gather here in Louisville in 2007."

"This event is a perfect fit for Louisville.  We're community focused on fitness and physical well being," Mayor Jerry E. Abramson said. "I appreciate Humana stepping forward and making a multi-year sponsorship commitment to an event that will attract thousands of people to our hometown."
