Missouri Couple Gets Thrilling Surprise! Pam and John Baur went to the lottery office in St. Louis to claim their $130,000 winnings when they noticed...."We missed a zero!" They had actually won $1.3 million in the April drawing. The retired couple has not yet decided how to spend their winnings.
California Joins Mega Millions The California Lottery Commission was unanimous in approving the addition of the Mega Millions lottery. The state's lottery players have been asking for the $200-$300 million jackpots and the commission is expecting the addition to boost Mega Million sales to new heights. The new drawings will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in addition to California state lottery drawings on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Online Lottery Sales The Texas Lottery Commission proposed a bill to the State House Appropriations Committee supporting online sales of state lottery tickets. The bill would also allow tickets to be purchased from the players' debit card and give the option of setting up a debit account with the Texas Lottery Commission. The committee chairman is expecting the sales to boost $100 million a year. Other states such as Georgia and Illinois are catching on to the idea.
