Reader's Question of the Month
Prosperity Partners
One of our readers called in last month with a great question: "What does the lottery do for me?" Lynn W. from New Jersey has some concerns about her state's lottery, and where the money is going. In New Jersey, 56 percent of lottery sales are paid out in prizes, 36 percent to state contributions, and a total of 7 percent in administration costs, retailer commissions and vendor fees. In fiscal year 2004, the state contributions in New Jersey totaled $795 million in funding for state education and institutions. State lotteries post annual reports and information on "where the money goes" on each lottery's official website. Go to www.NationalLotteryBuyers.com for links to all official state lottery sites and useful information on each state's lottery. Prosperity Partners, Inc. 800-868-6230 JasonR@ppicash.com
