California's participation in the Mega Millions Lottery is the subject of a recent lawsuit that alleges the state entered into the game without direct permission from voters.

The Iowa Lottery drafted a plan that allows people to deny themselves payback from winning tickets. It's called a self-ban. They're hoping that taking away the reward will help compulsive gamblers avoid buying tickets.
