Cool Facts

Years ago, it was believed that evil spirits would search for the bride to place a hex on her during the day of the wedding. This began the tradition of bridesmaids dressing in similar style to the bride, to confuse the spirits as to her exact identity.

The tradition of the groom carrying the bride over the threshold started with a superstition. It was believed that if she tripped or stumbled while entering her house for the first time, that it was bad luck.

In the rhyme "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue," blue is symbolic of the blood of royalty, since both the bride and the groom were considered to be "royal" on their wedding day.
