Cingular Summer Nights Concerts Now at South Lake Union
by Sara Green
Cingular Summer Nights at South Lake Union is the continuation of One Reel's popular Summer Nights at the Pier concert series. The series has relocated to South Lake Union Park due to needed structural restoration work on the original location at Pier 62/63 along Alaskan Way.
South Lake Union Park is a gorgeous, 12-acre waterfront park located at the south end of Lake Union, just north of Downtown Seattle. The Park is just 1.2 miles from Westlake Center and less than a mile from Seattle Center. Visitors can expect the same experiences that have made a concert at Summer Nights a summertime tradition, including: - 18 - 22 concerts of the best in pop, r&b, rock, blues, jazz and country
- an intimate concert setting with great seats throughout the venue
- a venue capacity of approximately 4,000 and general admission seating
- the highest production values in sound and light
gorgeous views of Lake Union - breathtaking sunsets and the nighttime lights of the downtown Seattle skyline
- close proximity to the South Lake Union neighborhood, downtown Seattle and many dining and nightlife options.
South Lake Union Park is in close proximity to many Seattle neighborhoods and is easily accessible by car, bus, foot, or bicycle. There is ample parking throughout the area. This year, veteran Summer Nights performers Lucinda Williams, Lyle Lovett, Buddy Guy, John Hiatt, Chris Isaak, Indigo Girls, Blind Boys of Alabama, and B.B. King will help us break in our new venue. We'll also welcome newcomers to the Summer Nights series, such as Ann Wilson, Clint Black, Aimee Mann, Los Lonely Boys, Ozomatli, Susan Tedeschi, and Trio! (Stanley Clarke, Bela Fleck, Jean-Luc Ponty). Click here for the 2005 Cingular Summer Nights artist roster with complete lineup and ticket information. Tickets for the concert series are available at www.summernights.org and all Ticketmaster locations. The 2005 Cingular Summer Nights website will contain detailed information about the concert series, including biographies and photos of each artist and links to their websites, parking and transportation options, maps, and driving directions. Details about the new venue, purchasing tickets, series sponsors, and press information will be available online as well. Cingular Summer Nights at South Lake Union Park is produced by One Reel, a Northwest non-profit arts and special events organization. The series is made possible by Cingular Wireless and through the support of Chevron, KMTT 103.7FM "The Mountain," Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, The Seattle Times, Southwest Airlines, Outback Steakhouse, Java Jahn Espresso, Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Seattle Lake Union, Bonefish Grill, DaVinci Gourmet, and Jillian's.
