Mercer Corridor Project Open House set for June 29
SLUFAN
Everyone interested in the City's Mercer Corridor Project is invited to attend a special Open House on Wednesday, June 29. See details below. As the Summer 2005 issue of MercerCorridorProject, a Seattle Department of Transportation newsletter, points out, "the future of the Mercer Corridor is taking shape." The newsletter sets the scene for the June 29 gathering: "In 2004, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) recommended a Two-Way Mercer and calmed, narrow Valley Street to get people moving to and through South Lake Union. The Mayor and City Council agreed this was the right choice. Now, project staff is completing the environmental review and developing designs that ensure the corridor's function, look and feel reflect the neighborhood's input and character." The Public Open House is set for Wednesday, June 29 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the South Lake Union Armory, 860 Terry Avenue N., Seattle. The Armory is served by Metro bus routes 17 and 70 and is wheelchair accessible. Everyone interested in this exciting project is invited to drop by between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. to view the displays and talk with staff. There will be a presentation on the preferred alternative and design concepts beginning at 5:30. For more information on this Open House, phone 206-684-8834 or email eric.tweit@seattle.gov.
