Restrictions Sought on Alcohol Sales
What's New in SLU
The Seattle City Council passed a proposal December 12th asking the State Liquor Control Board to begin restricting sale of low cost/high alcohol content beverages in several Seattle neighborhoods, including South Lake Union. Council Bill 115442 directs the Department of Neighborhoods and the Chief of Police to request that the State Liquor Control Board impose mandatory restrictions on the sale of alcohol downtown and in selected nearby neighborhoods. The intent of the legislation is to reduce the negative impacts on those neighborhoods of public inebriation. The Liquor Control Board is expected to act on the City's request early next year.
