30th Annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival and Classic Speedboat Show
What's New in SLU
Hundreds of boats and thousands of people to enjoy dozens of Small Ships, nautical activities and areas maritime culture More than 200 boats and 10,000 people will converge on the south end of Lake Union over the Fourth of July weekend for a celebration of wooden boats. Over the four day weekend, The Center for Wooden Boats is joined by the Antique & Classic Boat Society in presenting the 30th annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival & Classic Speedboat Show. In the spirit of the Center, where visitors have access to historic sailing and rowing vessels from the museum collection, this is a hands-on show. All vessels will have owners, builders or skippers available to share their experiences. Larger boats will invite visitors aboard; smaller boats will give rides. Classic rowboats can be rented, and steam and sail rides will be running non-stop. Visitors are guaranteed to get out on the water. A wide variety of activities are available for the entire family. The popular Toy Boat Building tent will be back giving kids a chance to build and decorate their own model boats. Come see the Quick and Daring contest, where competitors build a boat in a day and race them in an exciting and hilarious race. Local music talent will be featured on our stage all four days. Boats at the Festival this year will include dazzling varnished wooden speedboats, dinghies, sail and power classics, fishing vessels, tugboats, steam launches, kayaks, canoes, and many, many more. In addition, CWB is once again working in partnership with the Pacific Northwest Chapter of ACBS, the Antique and Classic Boat Society, to display classic speedboats each day.
