The South Lake Union Chamber of Commerce in Full Swing
South Lake Union’s first chamber of commerce aims to be proactive in serving business needs. “This chamber was formed to meet an immediate need,” says founding director Jason McKinney. “This is a Chamber comprised of highly motivated business leaders chomping at the bit to strengthen our neighborhood.” The formation of the Chamber was sparked in March of 2006 when a new Rotary Club was forming in the neighborhood. South Lake Union resident and University District Rotarian, Jason McKinney, was tasked to talk with business leaders and identify the needs of the community. Today, those businesses leaders are the Chamber’s charter board members: - Shari Basom, Small Changes Wholesale Distribution
- Jeff Behn, US Bank Corporation
- Betsy Davis, Center For Wooden Boats
- Phil Fujii, Vulcan
- Jimmy LeMert, Patrick's Fly Shop
- Craig Maturi, Trammell Crow Company
- Ryan Murphy, Shamrock Design
- Brian Petolleti, Schwartz Brothers, Interim Board President
- Helen Powell, UW Medicine at South Lake Union
- Nick Tensen, Cloud 9
- Monty Holmes, Athletic Awards Co., Past charter member
Regular meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 a.m., at rotating locations. If you have any questions about the Chamber, contact Jason McKinney at Jason@SLUchamber.org, or visit www.SLUchamber.org.
