SLU Streetcar Grand Opening
Be a part of history as Seattle’s first modern streetcar takes its inaugural run. On Wednesday December 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. take part in the South Lake Union Streetcar Grand Opening! The celebration will take place along the streetcar route beginning at the Westlake Hub (Westlake Ave and Olive Way). Enjoy music, refreshments, and opening remarks by Mayor Nickels. Mayor Nickels will operate the streetcar during its inaugural run to “break” the ribbon. The official commencement of streetcar service will follow. Enjoy riding the streetcar for free for the entire month of December. Make sure to pick up an “I Rode the Streetcar” sticker entitling you to receive discounts and freebies at participating restaurants, businesses and attractions along the streetcar line, December 12 – 16. What a great way to enjoy great culinary experiences, unforgettable entertainment options and retail offerings! Participate in the festivities for a chance to win great prizes, including a Kenmore Air and Pan Pacific Hotel package, as well as three runner-up prizes, by picking up a SLU “passport.” Explore the neighborhood via the Streetcar and present your passport to participating retailers to collect your stamp, receiving a “treat” in return. Can’t make it to the grand opening? You may still pick up your SLU “passport” at participating restaurants, stores, and the South Lake Union Discovery Center. Participants who bring a passport with ten stamps to the Discovery Center on or before December 31, 2007 will be eligible for exciting prizes!
