Great Skillet Street Food Comes to SLU
Great street food has finally arrived in Seattle but what’s even better is it comes to the South Lake Union Neighborhood every Wednesday at 202 Terry Ave. N, for both breakfast and lunch. When we say great, how does this sound for lunch?
San Juan Islands halibut fish tacos with coriander cream, slaw and spicy black beans. Or, Lemon grass braised pork, sammy, ginger aioli, slaw and brioche with chocolate fudge cupcakes for dessert.
Skillet Street Food is an Airstream trailer outfitted with a gourmet kitchen. Inside, Josh Henderson, who graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, and his pal, Danny Sizemore, whip up to-die-for chow at reasonable prices. For example barley risotto is only $6 The braised pork sammy is $7. The chefs make an effort to serve organic food locally grown. So, the fare is healthful as well as tasty.
Skillet Street serves breakfast from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. while lunch is served from around 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Recent breakfast menu items included cinnamon French toast and apple maple syrup or roasted Washington fingerling potato hash, caramelized onion, herbs, slab bacon and two fried eggs.
Be prepared to wait a little longer than you would at a conventional fast food drive up. It’s still fast and cooked to order just for you. Want to see what’s on the menu this week? Go to www.skilletstreetfood.com and feast your eyes.
