No Budget Agreement Yet
VHCA (2/27/2009)
As of late Friday afternoon, the Budget Conferees had not reached agreement on the State Budget. VHCA is cautiously optimistic that the 1.329% reduction carried over from the 2008 session and contained in the Governor’s Introduced Budget will be removed for SFY 2010. This would mean a restoration of $11.7 million (total funds) for Medicaid payment to nursing facilities in SFY 2010. Until the Budget is completed, however, we cannot be sure that this restoration will occur. If the Budget Conferees can come to an agreement today, the General Assembly might be able to finish its work tomorrow and adjourn on schedule. If there is no agreement today, the Session will be extended until there is agreement. VHCA will inform you of the Budget action and also a full General Assembly report as soon as possible.
