The March 2009 Long Term Care Survey Manual is now available. The new edition includes CMS changes effective January 9 and March 31. The most important change is revised guidance on "Quality Care" with updates to F-Tag 309, Pain Management. There is also a new section on Liability Notices and Beneficiary Appeal Rights in Appendix P. Two small sections on unintended weight loss and storage of paper records by facilities that have all-electronic clinical records have been deleted, and a section on hospice care and dialysis has been moved from Appendix P to F-Tag 309.
