VHCA is part of a coalition, the Virginians for Workplace Fairness, which will fight federal “card check” legislation.  At this point, the coalition comprises 65 organizations, including the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Federation of Independent Business, Virginia Manufacturers Association, Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, among others.

The Coalition will use various strategies to increase public awareness of the dangers inherent in removing the current requirement for a secret ballot in union organizing activities.  In addition, the Coalition will work with similar organizations in other states and on the national level to achieve our goal of fairness in the workplace.  Virginia’s Coalition will focus on Virginia’s Congressional Delegation, while other state coalitions focus on their own delegations.

The Coalition’s first event was a press conference held in Richmond this week.  About 200 people attended, as well as media from across the Commonwealth.  For additional information, see the Coalition’s website.
