The new 2010 resource catalog is printed and ready to mail. Copies should be in your mailbox soon. A PDF of the new catalog from the first page of the online bookstore is available for download. There are many new products throughout the catalog as well as several new editions and price reductions. A Guide to Long-Term Care Administration Now Available A book that Timothy Farabaugh, COO of Vinson Hall Retirement Community, published entitled, A Guide to Long-Term Care Administration, has just recently been made available for purchase in the American Healthcare Association’s online bookstore. Originally published in hard copy in 2006, A Guide to Long-Term Care Administration is a valuable resource for students who are preparing to become nursing home and assisted living administrators. Those who have worked in the field of long-term care may also benefit from the insights offered by the author. Farabaugh has dedicated more than 20 years of service to senior citizens. MDS 3.0 User’s Manual Available Soon Many MDS Coordinators and DONs are eagerly awaiting the release of the new MDS 3.0 Federal regulations so they can begin preparing and training for the October 2010 implementation. Although some information has been released by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), four of the final chapters are still pending. Based on communications with CMS, AHCA anticipates these chapters will be released “soon.” Once released, it will take AHCA about four weeks to prepare the new MDS 3.0 manual. AHCA recognizes the extensive need for this critical resource and the current economic conditions facing facilities. The new manual should be available in late February or early March if CMS releases final content as scheduled.
