Virginia Participation in Advancing Excellence Taking Off
VHCA (03/08/07)
All nursing facility members are encouraged to participate in the national Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes campaign. We are rapidly approaching the 100-facility mark for Virginia’s participation in Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes, a two year, coalition-based campaign focused on how we care for elderly and disabled individuals. This voluntary campaign: - Monitors key indicators of nursing home care quality
- Promotes excellence in care giving for nursing home residents
- Acknowledges the critical role nursing home staff have in providing care
The campaign builds on the success of other quality initiatives like Quality First, the Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI), and the culture change movement. Campaign goals include creating a culture of person-centered, individualized care and an empowered workforce in nursing homes. Frequently Asked Questions can provide further information. To help you and your staff succeed in the campaign, AHCA has produced a staff-friendly Facility Toolkit that includes information and ways to achieve the campaign's goals. The Facility Edition Toolkit includes a communications chapter on how to explain the campaign to internal and external audiences, along with tools to promote the campaign. Advancing Excellence providers can look forward to positive outcomes from having an effective quality improvement program in place including higher resident, family or staff satisfaction, a positive work environment and improved staff retention. Don’t get left on the ground – sign up today and join nearly 100 Virginia facilities that are committed to a successful Advancing Excellence campaign.
