Governor Kaine Reviews Assisted Living Regs

Governor Kaine has asked Secretary Tavenner to modify the proposed Assisted Living Regulations in three areas.  The Governor asked Secretary Tavenner (1) to revisit the need for a national exam in addition to a state exam for Assisted Living Administrators, (2) to revisit the required amount of administrator in training hours, and (3) to reexamine the matrix of experience and education to ensure appropriate knowledge on the part of administrators to provide quality care to residents while also ensuring that an adequate pool of potential candidates will be available for assisted living facilities in Virginia.

VCAL will be working with Secretary Tavenner and the Department of Health Professions as these three requests from Governor Kaine are examined.
