Mark Your Calendars for January MDS Management Program
VHCA (11/30/2007)
Mark your calendars for this information-filled program to be held in Richmond on January 16th! The Minimum Data Set (MDS) is generally acknowledged as the single most important document in today’s skilled nursing facility. The MDS impacts many areas of operations and serves as the foundation for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and compliance. This dynamic one day program will focus on the principals governing case-mix payment systems and offer advanced strategies for success. Both clinical and payment perspectives will be reviewed and discussed, with a spotlight on the capture of all payment sensitive services and conditions necessary for proper reimbursement while meeting compliance requirements. This program is designed for seasoned clinical and financial managers and will address multifaceted MDS management issues, with a focus on reimbursement, compliance and efficiency. Areas to be covered include: ensuring full Medicare and Medicaid payment through MDS management; improving MDS efficiency through appropriate resource allocation; MDS and corporate compliance concerns; the role of the MDS Coordinator in the Survey process; maintaining clinical documentation to support the MDS; understanding the UB-04 – conducting audits that identify improper billing and MDS “capture” issues; and MDS Coordinator “Skill Set” review. The program brochure should be in your mailbox next week. Online information and registration will be available on December 3rd.
