ALF Administrator Licensure Regulations Effective
VHCA (1/4/2008)
The final Assisted Living Administrators (ALF) Regulations were published in the Virginia Register on November 26, 2007. These regulations became effective on January 2, 2008. Until January 2, 2009, an individual who has served full-time as the administrator of record or assistant administrator of record in an ALF licensed in Virginia for two of the four years immediately proceeding January 2, 2008 is eligible to be licensed by the Board when providing documentation of experience and a passing score on the NAB examination. Additionally, full-time Regional Administrators with on-site supervisory responsibilities for one or more ALFs will qualify for licensure if they can provide evidence of at least two years experience as an ALF administrator and a passing score on the national credentialing exam. Applications for ALF licensure are now available on the Board of Long Term Care Administrator website. The examination component of the licensure requirements will be administered by the National Association of Boards (NAB). For information on the NAB practice examination and availability of a Study Guide for the RC/AL examination logon to the NAB website. More information on educational and training requirements for initial licensure and pathways to ALF Administrator licensure is available on the VCAL website.
