CMS Reorganization

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently published a notice in the Federal Register formalizing a reorganization that establishes the Consortium for Financial Management and Fee for Service Operations, the Consortium for Medicare Health Plans Operations, the Consortium for Medicaid and Children's Health Operations, and the Consortium for Quality Improvement and Survey and Certification Operations.   Although the notice states that the ten Regional Offices are "abolished", AHCA has learned that the Regional Offices will continue to have a role in the survey & certification process.  The four Consortiums are each assigned specific responsibilities.  AHCA staff and key member leaders are working to arrange a meeting with Dr. Randy Farris, MD, the Consortium Administrator for the Consortium for Quality Improvement and Survey & Certification Operations, to discuss members’ survey concerns.
