Comments Needed on 2009 National Patient Safety Goals
VHCA (2/8/2008)
The Joint Commission recently released a draft "2009 National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) for Long Term Care," and is seeking comments from the long term care profession. The new goals include improving the accuracy of resident identification; reducing the risk of health care-associated infections; accurately and completely reconciling resident medications across the continuum of care; and encouraging resident's active involvement in their own care as a resident safety strategy. Providers of long term care can now review the draft goals. Comments are due by February 27; you may submit comments here.
