Medication Aide Registration Deadline Extended

The Virginia House and Senate Budget Conferees approved an extension of the deadline for the registration of Medication Aides in assisted living facilities until December 31, 2008.  This grants adds an additional six months to complete a Board of Nursing approved training program, successfully pass an exam and be placed on a Registry.  The need for additional time to get Medication Aides trained and registered was brought to the attention of the General Assembly members by VCAL when it was identified that very few providers of training had received approval for programs and only a handful of aides had successfully passed the exam.  The original deadline for all Medication Aides to be on the Registry was July 1st.  To assist with the training VCAL is offering two additional Train the Trainer for Medication Aides on April 10th and May 22nd.  Click here to register your trainers.
