Update on SMART
VHCA (5/16/2008)
Since launching the Survey Management Analysis and Resource Tool (SMART) project 72% of VHCA members have provided their survey results. The database reveals that the average number of deficiencies cited in Virginia’s surveys continues to increase, ranging from an average of 4.42 in 2005, 5.74 in 2006, and 5.92 in 2007 to 6.06 in 2008 to-date. An analysis of the data in the chart below demonstrates that the number of “serious deficiencies” increased significantly in 2007. | YEAR | G LEVEL | SUBSTANDARD | IMMEDIATE JEOPARDY | | 2005 | 60 | 5 | 5 | | 2006 | 41 | 7 | 3 | | 2007 | 65 | 9 | 7 | | 2008 (Surveys to-date) | 13 | 0 | 0 | We are encouraging all VHCA members to take advantage of participation in the project. As participants you will be able to logon with a password to access updated information on deficiencies being cited, reasons for the citations, and a comparison of your facility/facilities survey results in relation to others in your area or across the state. All facility specific information submitted is confidential. To participate just submit your surveys with an accompanying cover questionnaire for each survey conducted in your facility, then contact Kathy Robertson for a password to access SMART. For further instructions for forwarding the surveys click here. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get “SMART”.
